Varieties grown

We have planted various varieties of Sunfowers  including Soraya and Sunrich Gold to ensure a consistent supply for as long as possible.

Watch out for the 'ring of Fire' variety characterised by the ring of colour around the centre of the flower.

How to pick

Sunflower stems are quite thick and need to be cut rather than pulled or snapped.

We have small knives available for customer to borrow,

  1. For Health and Safety reasons we are unable to provide cutting knives to children.

Sunflower facts

  1. Sunfowers are Heliotropic in their early growth stages, meaning their faces will actually move and follow the sun through the sky.
  2. Sunflowers belong to the Daisy family.
  3. Sunflowers are native to North and Central America.
  4. A Sunflower head can contain up to 2000 seeds.
  5. The tallest sunflower recorded was over 30 feet tall.
